FLORIST FLOWERING YOUR WORLD – Fleurs des 4 Saisons

Welcome to our blog and our interviews with florists, about florists, for florists. Nathalie, a passionate florist and manager of the Fleurs des 4 Saisons shop in Saint-Amour, never imagined she would one day turn her profession into a true art of living.

Initially, she dreamed of horticulture, but the schools weren’t open to girls. “Florism was less tiring as a substitute, but I don’t regret it,” she says with a smile.

Since then, this profession has offered her much more than just bouquets. Among her fondest memories, Nathalie recalls a bride, Sandra, whom she didn’t know but with whom an unexpected connection was formed. “I was called to help her put on her dried flower earrings, and then even her dress! It was a very special moment.” A few days later, the bride sent her a photo of her bouquet, which she had taken all the way to Chamonix.

But it’s during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) that Nathalie undoubtedly finds one of her greatest sources of pride. For eleven years, she has sponsored the Saint-Amour walk against breast cancer, personally financing the distribution of nearly two thousand roses to the participants. “It’s a real celebration, full of emotion. Even Maria, who’s in a wheelchair, comes to help me distribute the flowers.” She also organizes charity workshops like “Decorate Your Sneakers,” the proceeds of which are donated to the association.

Always on the go, Nathalie lets herself be guided by the magic of renewal: creative workshops, themed parties, Christmas decorations… “It’s a job that’s constantly evolving; there’s always something new to imagine.”

What also motivates her is passing on knowledge. After thirty-six years in the business, she has seen several generations of clients come and go. “We know their stories, their joys, their sorrows. Sometimes we cry with them.” For her, floristry is as much a craft as it is a human adventure: “You have to be a perfectionist and a human being.”

Sensitive to the environment, she adopts simple but concrete practices: sorting waste, switching to LED lighting, and choosing trusted suppliers. And speaking of Hukra, her main supplier, she has nothing but praise: “When a product arrives damaged, they issue a credit note without question. We work with complete trust, with the same contact person on the phone. She knows our routines and gives us advice; it’s invaluable.”

As for the future, Nathalie dreams of passing on her knowledge and passion. “I’m currently training my youngest employee. I’d like to hand the shop over to her one day. It would be a beautiful continuation.”

A flowery story of generosity, passing on knowledge, and sensitivity, just like her creations.
