FLORIST FLOWERING YOUR WORLD – Terre de Couleurs
“I chose floristry out of passion.”
Welcome to our interview & blog with florists, about florists, for florists. This month’s florist to present is Sandrine, the owner of Terre de Couleurs in Bonneville.
A Land of Colors: Sandrine’s Floral Passion in Bonneville (Haute-Savoie)
For a long time, Sandrine has been sharing her passion for flowers in Bonneville, in the heart of Haute-Savoie. At the helm of her shop, “Terre de Couleurs” (Land of Colors), she shares her journey, her values, and her vision of a profession she practices with disarming sincerity.
A Vocation Born in the Meadows
“I chose floristry out of passion,” explains Sandrine. A passion born at a very young age, nurtured by family walks picking daffodils, lily of the valley, primroses, and narcissi.
“As a child, I loved giving bouquets of daffodils to my teachers,” she recalls fondly. These bucolic memories paved the natural path for a future florist at heart.
A Journey Full of Twists and Turns
After a few years as an employed florist, Sandrine decided to take the plunge and become self-employed: “I was lucky enough to be able to grow and open my own shop.”
Curious and ambitious, she also explored the floristry supply sector before returning to her original line of work. And in this profession, creativity is never lacking!
She particularly remembers some unexpected and original orders: a funeral arrangement in the shape of a Heineken glass, a giant sphere of carnations and pampas grass for a New Year’s Eve celebration, inspired by a trip to India, and ten-meter-long floral garlands for a wedding.
From a Small Shop to a Beautiful 200m² Space
“We’ve grown tremendously: initially, our first shop was only 60m². Today, we have 200m² and a fantastic location,” says Sandrine, proud of how far she’s come.
While recruitment remains a challenge—”it’s difficult to find qualified staff”—the team already boasts seven passionate individuals, ready to bring customers’ desires to life.
Quality, service, and attentiveness: the key words
At Terre de Couleurs, the philosophy rests on four pillars: quality, service, expertise, and attentiveness to the customer.
Each arrangement is crafted with care, with a genuine focus on personalization and respecting customer expectations.
A human-scale environmental approach
While the municipality has not yet implemented specific guidelines for managing green waste, the shop is doing its best: recycling is integrated into the team’s daily routine.
“Here, green waste is incinerated, but we try to minimize our impact as much as possible,” explains Sandrine pragmatically.
Simple dreams, focused on people
Looking ahead, Sandrine doesn’t dream of grandeur, but of balance: “What I want is a good, close-knit team,” she confides.
Her goal: to continue cultivating the warmth that makes her shop a special place, where every customer leaves with a bouquet and a smile.
Hukra, a trusted partner
Loyal to her supplier, Sandrine emphasizes the importance of a long-term relationship: “At Hukra, I appreciate the value for money and, above all, the consistency of the contact. Always having the same person to talk to is invaluable.”
